The Humane Society of Nelson County has two programs designed to help owners who cannot afford regular prices for spay/neuter surgery. We usually have clinics two days/week, but days vary. We also will help caretakers of feral cat colonies, or people who have out-of-control populations (“barn cats”), or other special circumstances.

Kitten season is just around the corner.
Our low-cost clinic offers help to low income owners and caretakers. We fix barn cats, neighborhood cats, rescued strays and feral (wild) cats. FVCRP and rabies immunizations given at time of surgery as well as flea treatment.

Males: $55
Females: $75 

Special rates available (for Nelson County residents only)
for owners and caretakers with multiple cats.

CATS
Spay/neuter surgery is done at our weekly clinic in Bardstown. Surgery is generally done on Mondays and Tuesdays. We request $75 for females and $55 for males, which is much less than the actual cost to us. This includes an FVCRP immunization, a rabies shot, flea and ear mite treatment, worming medication if indicated, and a Nelson County license tag.  If you cannot afford these very low fees, please call and we may be able to arrange more assistance. Our first obligation is to Nelson County residents, but we will help owners in other counties when our schedule allows. To schedule surgery call the clinic at 502-349-2082.

DOGS – LOW COST SPAY/NEUTER CLINIC
At this time, we are unable to schedule owned dogs in our own clinic because of the increased number of shelter dogs needing surgery. Contact the many private vet clinics in Bardstown and other towns near you. All have slightly different prices and requirements.  Listed below are several non-profit organizations that might be able to help owners who need financial assistance.
